1) I have learned to make sure the patient is scheduled for their next visit before leaving the office. In no way does this come across as forced, but there is a mild urgency to this expressed to the patient because the schedule does fill up quickly and they want to ensure they get their next visit in.
2) A follow-up call to a patient, regardless if they are a new patient or existing patient going through a new symptom, goes a long way. This reiterates once again, the genuine concern for her patient’s well-being, helps to hone in on the patient’s conditions, and increases doctor-patient report. Patient’s feel cared for and it is a huge difference that takes just a few minutes of time. Implementing this myself, I have noticed an increase in patient retention and follow-up visits."
